Are you ready to read the next book in the Loving Husband Series? Drum roll please…

No, your eyes are not deceiving you. The Professor of Eventide is indeed the next book in the Loving Husband Series. Yes, for those of you who figured it out, Jonathan Ferrars is James Wentworth, everyone’s favorite preternatural professor. 

I chose not to advertise the book as the next installment in the Loving Husband Series initially because I wanted to make it clear that The Professor of Eventide is completely standalone, and you don’t have to know that the other six books even exist to follow the story. Now that autumn is here, the natural season for supernatural Dark Academia stories, I decided that it’s time for the grand reveal (not that it’s a reveal to everyone. Some of you figured it out. Well done!). 

What I found so interesting is that a few readers recognized Chandresh (from Her Loving Husband’s Curse) in The Professor of Eventide, but didn’t mention James. I talked a bit about that here. 

I also wrote about how I came to write The Professor of Eventide. The part of the story I left out of that post is that when I decided I wanted to write a Dark Academia-influenced novel, it immediately occurred to me that I already had a beloved professor character that I love writing about and that readers love reading about. Yes, he happens to be a vampire, but no one is perfect. Weaving my ideas about the inverted murder mystery around James was a challenge, but a good one. 

If you’re looking for where The Professor of Eventide fits in chronological order with the other books in the series, it falls between Down Salem Way and Her Dear & Loving Husband. In fact, Eventide College was one of James’s last stops before he found his way back to Salem…and Sarah. Again, you don’t need to know any of that to follow the story of The Professor of Eventide. The book stands entirely on its own.
